Edit content in Webflow

Learn how content editing works in Webflow, from the perspective of a Content editor. In this lesson, we take a high-level look at who can edit content, what you can and can’t change, and how to safely update text, images, CMS content, SEO settings, and more — without breaking layouts or design.

Webflow lets you edit content directly on the canvas — without switching to a separate CMS view or editor. This makes it faster to update text, images, and other content as you're building or reviewing your site.

To edit static content, just double-click on a text element on the canvas. You'll enter an inline editing mode where you can type directly, just like in a word processor. When you click away, the changes are saved to the element.

For CMS content — like blog posts, team members, or any other collection-bound content — you can edit items directly from the canvas as well. With a collection list or collection page open in the Designer, you can click into the CMS panel to open and edit individual items without leaving the Designer.

You can also edit content through the Webflow Editor, which is a separate, simplified interface designed for content editors and marketers. The Editor gives you click-to-edit access to text and images on the live site, and lets you manage CMS items, without the full complexity of the Designer.

Whichever way you edit content in Webflow, changes are saved as drafts first. You can preview them before publishing, and when you're ready, publish directly from the Designer or Editor.

This flexibility — editing directly on canvas, through the CMS panel, or via the Editor — means different team members can work in the way that suits them best, without getting in each other's way.
