See how Claude and the Webflow MCP can help you move faster when building CMS-powered sites — from creating collections and fields, to generating sample content, adding and populating new fields, and even starting collection page templates.
Here we have a really cool 90s travel site reimagined in Webflow today. We know we want to add a blog, but we don't have anything in our CMS yet - let's fix that with Claude and the Webflow MCP.
Earlier in Claude, we found the Webflow connector, connected it in Claude, and authorized this workspace and site to be accessed through the MCP.
Now, we can start prompting. It's a good idea to start with a contextual setup prompt - something that identifies the site and ID, and confirms there's no existing blog.
Looks like Claude and I are on the same page. Next, the blog collection build. We'll ask it to create the collection and infer which fields would be needed for a luxury travel blog.
We asked it to pause and tell us the plan before building - that's a good habit anytime Claude is about to create something new.
Ok, it gave me a great plan, with intuitive and relevant fields. We'll tell it to go forward with the build. Looks like it's finished, and has given me a short summary of the new collection. Let's refresh the page and check it out.
Here we see our new Blog collection. It has all fields Claude set up for us, including some that I may not have even considered myself, and it was ready in minutes. No manual building.
And of course, now we need some blog items. We'll ask it to build five realistic and on brand blogs. Of course, you probably have some real human writers on your team, but let's see what Claude can do for us.
Awesome, our blogs are ready. Let's refresh the page and go check them out. And there we have it, five realistic blogs, each with most of the fields already populated for us.
But you can do so much more! Maybe I also want to add a Topics collection. I'll ask Claude to read the new blog content and come up with a few relevant topics.
And like before, I'm going to ask it to pause and get my approval on the topics before building. They look spot-on, so I'll tell it to go ahead and build.
Like before, let's refresh and check out my second new collection, Topics, and its five new topic items - which it built all at the same time.
And here's the really cool part - it looks like Claude has already predicted exactly what I wanted to do next. Naturally, we'll go back to the Blog collection and add a reference field, so each post can be linked to a relevant topic.
And it will even identify and populate those in the reference field for us - a huge time savings compared to adding fields and data after the fact manually.
Ok, we've already accomplished a lot, but at this point, you may be wondering - could Claude also help me set up my Collection page template?
Yes! If you have a clear vision, strong prompts, and have a strong existing design system, it can at least get you a great start. From there, you could tweak your design, bind your CMS fields, and keep exploring what Claude and the Webflow MCP can do for you.
