Closing thoughts

Here we are at the end of the freelancer’s journey, but really this represents the beginning of the next chapter. Because that’s the thing, everything we did in each stage of the journey, that leads us here. We’re more qualified and in an even better position to work on the next thing we want to try. We continue the journey, and as we do, we’re producing a body of work that will not only give us confidence and open up new opportunities, but inspire new ideas. It isn’t perfect, it never is. We’ll make mistakes, we’ll fail, and we’ll come up with a hundred reasons to doubt ourselves. In fact sometimes the more we learn about a topic the more aware we are of how much more there is to know. And that’s okay. Here’s the thing. We’ve all been there, and as we become more and more connected, our ability to reach out to and learn from and support other freelancers going through the same thing increases every day. Because each connection we make, each new project, new client interaction, every little moment of victory, each painful lesson, it all adds to who we are, not just as freelancers, but as designers, writers, producers, artists. And that portfolio, our body of work, that’s our storybook, our history. It’s not just there to inspire trust and authority in clients, it's there to do the same for ourselves. It represents our creations, our contributions, our ability and willingness to learn and grow, but more importantly our desire to try and try again, getting more qualified and better each and every time. And that’s the freelancer’s journey.
