Google Site Verification

Google verification allows you to verify ownership of a website so you can use Google Search Console tools, like Google to index your website in their search results.

Verify your website

The best way to verify your Webflow site is with the HTML Tag method in Google Search Console. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to Google Search Console and log into your Google account (create an account if you don’t have one)
  1. In the field provided, type your URL and click Add a Property
  1. Select the Alternate Methods Tab
  2. Select the HTML Tag option at the top of the list
  3. Click Show me an example
  4. Copy the Verification ID (string of numbers and letters in between the quotations that appear after `content=”`)
  1. ‍Go to your Project Settings
  2. Select the SEO tab and scroll to the bottom of the page
  3. Paste the Verification ID in the field provided under Google Site Verification
  4. Click Save Changes and then Publish so that Google can check for the ID on the live site
  1. Go back to the Google Search Console and click Verify

Submit to Google

Once the verification process is complete, you can submit your website to Google for indexing. Google may automatically find your website through a link on another site, but verifying ownership and asking Google to index your site will get you on Google faster.
